Purpose

The Tremont United Methodist Child Care Center (TUMCCC) is a mission project of the Tremont United Methodist Church in Tremont. The Center was established in 1989 to provide full-day childcare for the benefit of children, parents and the community. It also provides both a preschool and a school age program. TUMCCC is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and serves children ages 6 weeks through 12 years. The Center is licensed through the Department of Children and Family Services.

We believe that each child is a child of God and should have every opportunity to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually to the fullest potential. We are called to ministry, caring for children, showing concern for families, and providing support and nurturing for our own families in this congregation and the surrounding community. This program is one way for our church to live out the message of God's love, expressed through Jesus Christ.

SCRIP - Shopping Cart Fundraising

A new program called scrip has been introduced at TUMCCC. Referred to as “shopping cart fundraising,” this easy program benefits TUMCCC’s building upkeep while patronizing local retailers. Through household purchases, (i.e. groceries, gas, clothing and more) TUMCCC can earn a percentage back from participating retailers. The best part is that there is nothing to sell, just shop for your family as you normally would, but purchase your scrip from TUMCCC first.

Here’s how the program works. Scrip works similarly to a pre paid gift card, except that the gift card (or scrip) is purchased first through TUMCCC. When they are redeemed, the center earns a percentage (varies by retailer) of that purchase. Just think---at least our rising gas prices will be going to a good cause! It’s not just gas purchases that can help. Please see the list of local retailers from which we will be ordering scrip cards. There are even more retailers that participate in this program, but the list at the end of this letter are the ones with which we are starting our program.

Order forms are available here online or on a table by the elevator. If you know that you are going to spend $25 at Walmart for example, you can order your gift card (scrip) from us on Monday. I will place the orders by 10am on Mondays, they will be shipped here and distributed thru the church office by Thursday of the same week.  (Office is available M-TH 8am.-12, on Fridays call to make sure someone is there).  Take that card to Walmart, use it like a gift card and the center receives 2% back from that purchase.

We have already earned over $850 and our first $2000 will be matched by a generous donator that wants to see this program be very successful for TUMCCC.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thank you, Leann Dexter Scrip Coordinator   Posted April 2011
